Tunnels make Brisbane less Liveable
The TransApex tunnel and bridge network will increase traffic congestion and pollution across the city, and make the lvies of many Brisbane residents a nightmare.
The Mews Apartment complex at Bowen Hills, which is already suffering from the impacts of North South Bypass Tunnel Construction, will be devestated by the Airport Link tunnel. The unit complex will have a huge concret on-ramp constructed metres from residents' patios and from communal recreation areas.
In Clayfield residents in and surrounding Alma Street will have 30m high industrial exhaust chimeny built in their street which will spew out unfiltered emissions from over 90,000 vehicles per day. Residents were shocked to find that this would be located in their street as previous consultation had not shown this location as a potential option.
In South Brisbane the construction and operation of the Hale Street Bridge will create traffic chaos on Cordelia and Merivale Streets and increase the amount of pollution that students of Brisbane State High School are exposed to.
Residents in Milton, Toowong and other areas that will be affected by the proposed Northern Link should begin their protests now to avoid this disaster.
